Colombo, August 25 (newsin.asia): Sri Lanka hosted the largest wedding exhibition after the pandemic lockdown at the Bandaranaike International Conference Hall here. The exhibition, which was also the longest stretching over three days, ended on August 23.
Hundreds of wedding service providers, including hotels, photographers, beauty experts, caterers, jewelers, clothiers, car renters among a variety of others, participated in the colorful exhibition.
Due to the effective control of the pandemic by the Sri Lankan government, throngs of brides-to-be and grooms-to-be attended the wedding exhibition accompanied by relatives and friends.
The exhibits were eye catching, the stalls’ staff were eager, communicative and patient. The clients were wide eyed and yet careful as the goods and services offered could make a dent in their bank balance. Knowing the importance of the price factor, the exhibitors offered attractive discounts ranging from 20 to 40%.
Weddings occupies a very important position in the social life of Sri Lankans. Sri Lanka has a small number of wedding companies that provide “one-stop” services, but most families prefer to look for inspiration at wedding exhibitions.
Sri Lankan wedding fairs offer a complete range of products. Before the pandemic, there were no fewer than ten large-scale wedding exhibitions held each year in Colombo alone.
Compared with the first wedding exhibition held after the lifting of the lockdown a month ago, yesterday’s event was longer (three days) and more oriented towards ordinary people.
An exhibitor said that he was thankful to the government for controlling the epidemic and allowing such an exhibition.
“The epidemic will not go away anytime soon. But we have to pursue our activities by taking precautions. The exhibition shows that there is mutual support for tiding over the difficulties,” said an exhibitor.
The organizer of the show said that the pandemic has greatly affected the Sri Lankan wedding industry. “But thanks to the Sri Lankan government’s successful campaign to control pandemic we were able to successfully hold this wedding show in accordance with strict hygiene guidelines. I hope that through the wedding exhibition, we can tell the public that we will surely get through the difficulties together.”
The organizers, Asia Exhibitions & Conventions (Pvt) Ltd. was incorporated in the year 2007. The company was given the International Arch of Europe award in the gold category which was received in Frankfurt.
