Dhaka, October 1 (BDNews24): The General Secretary of the ruling Awami League and Bangladesh’s Road Transport Minister Obaidul Quader has advised the minority Hindus to counterattack instead of fleeing Bangladesh when they are attacked..
“Keep in mind that the miscreants, who vandalise temples, grab homes and lands of the minorities, do not belong to any party even though they use party identities,” he said during a visit to the Ramakrishna Mission in Dhaka on the Maha Nabami of Durga Puja on Friday.
“Don’t leave your homeland fearing attacks by these miscreants,” he said.
“You can inform me, call our party office over land phone if you face any problem. But please don’t leave the country in the dark of the night for emotions.”
“It’s your country. Respond to attacks with counterattacks,” he said.
The road transport and bridges minister asked the Hindus not to be afraid of anyone. “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is with you. Her government is with you,” he said.
He also said Bangladesh is not for only the Muslims, but also for the Hindus, Buddhists and Christians.
“Don’t consider yourselves as second class citizens. Always walk with dignity,” he said.
Speaking about the Rohingya crisis, he said Bangladesh did not need relief materials from China for the refugees.
“Instead, like India, please stand by the side of this endangered ethnic group,” he said.
