Colombo, Dec 23 (newsin.asia) – The 2018 FIFA World Cup Trophy, which is scheduled to visit more than 54 countries around the globe, will begin its tour from Sri Lanka next month, the government information department said Saturday.
The officials of the Football Federation of Sri Lanka and representatives of the institutions providing sponsorship have informed President Maithripala Sirisena officially in this regard.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup Trophy will be brought to Sri Lanka on Jan 23, 2018 and later the Trophy will be officially be handed over to the President. “Receiving this opportunity is a great honour for Sri Lanka,” the government information department said.
The Trophy will be kept at the BMICH, in capital Colombo on Jan 24 for public view and on the same day the Trophy will be taken to the Maldives.
