Colombo, August 23 (DailyMirror) – The government has planned to complete providing the COVID-19 vaccine for people between the ages of 18 and 30 from the second week of September, Epidemiology Unit Director Dr. Samitha Ginige said.
Addressing the media, he said nearly 3.2 million people are in the country with the above age limit.

“11.5 million people who are above 30 years of age and 99% of them were given at least the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine until today. However, the government is planning to complete the second dose of the vaccination programme for people over 30 years by the first week of September, “Dr. Ginige said.
The vaccination against COVID-19 was initiated on January 29 and priority was given to front line workers such as health service employees and those who were engaged in the suppression of COVID virus. 55% of the people in the country have been given the first dose and 25% the second.
