According to a report by WABetaInfo, the calling shortcut feature integrated to the app will make it simple for users by tapping the contact cell within the list of contacts. The new calling shortcut feature will automatically be added to the home screen of the user’s device, once created.
The update is being rolled out through the Google Play Store Beta Program for Android beta testers. The update carries version 2.23.3.15 which allows users the ability to use the calling feature within the app. Currently, the calling shortcuts are under development and will be released in the future update of the application, the report added.
How is this feature useful?
This feature will be helpful to WhatsApp users who frequently make calls to the same person and do not want to go through the same process every time, that is, opening the application and searching for the contact every time.
WhatsApp is working on an in-app banner feature within the app that will allow users to browse their documents. The new banner feature will be available to use in the upcoming update of the app. WhatsApp users will be able to share documents and files up to 2GB in size.
