Colombo, June 7 (NewsWire) – The Health Ministry has decided to start the inoculation of Pregnant Women around the county starting this Wednesday (9 June).
Sri Lanka College Of Obstetricians & Gynecologists (SLCOG) has said that the approval to vaccinate pregnant women was given based on a request forwarded by their association.

The initiation event of this vaccination program will be held at the Castle Street hospital for women. Later on, the vaccination drive will begin from the Piliyandala MOH area.
So far, 8 pregnant women have died in the country after being contracted with Covid-19. The vaccination for pregnant women will be done based on several criteria.
The President of SLCOG, consultant physician Pradeep De Silva said that it is estimated to complete the vaccination program of pregnant women within 1 months time.
