August 9 (newsin.asia) – Located in the ancient hill capital of Kandy, the name of the property THE RADH, was inspired by the word ‘Radala’ which referred to a small caste in the Kingdom of Kandy. The term Radala was an amalgamation of the words ‘Radh’ which translated as ‘Royal’ and the words Kola or Kula which meant ‘Caste’. Thus was the name for the property chosen as a tribute to the former ‘Royal’ glory of the ancient Kingdom of Kandy and it’s unique heritage.
A Minute’s Walk Towards Ancient Glory
The Radh is privileged to be the only hospitality property situated within less than 200 feet of walking distance to the ‘Dalada Maligawa’, also known as the ‘Sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic.’ A magnificent palatial edifice aptly named for being the resting place of the sacred tooth relic of Lord Buddha; it was also formerly occupied by Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe, the King of Sri Lanka and remains to this day as the cornerstone of Buddhism in the world.

Distinctive Dining Assortment For The Palate
Savour sumptuous delectables in a chic and relaxed atmosphere. The Radh houses the award-winning Café Nihonbashi by Dharshan Munidasa which features the restaurant’s signature dish, the Perahera Bento Box, seasoned with a concoction of Sri Lankan and Japanese flavors. The distinctive range of dining options includes an In-Room Dining Menu and Coffee Shop by Executive Chef Imthiaz Khan.
The restaurant does not serve pork to retain the Halal standard.
“Chef Dharshan Munidasa is an iconic figure in Sri Lanka and worldwide. We were keen on introducing a high-end restaurant experience to Kandy. Once the project came together, considering its finesse and architecture, we realized that Café Nihonbashi would complement the hospitality experience of The Radh,” said Azim Marikar (Executive Director).
The boutique hotel exudes a sense of nostalgia by reflecting on the Kandyan Era, all the while providing the convenience and indulgences of the present.
