That’s a lot of records for the Shah Rukh Khan starrer. Sunny Leone also features in the film albeit in a special number, a remix of the yesteryears dance number ‘Laila Main Laila’ in the film.
The release of Raees clashed with Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam’s suspense thriller Kaabil which is fast inching close to Rs 70 cr (US$ 10.3 million) at the box-office.
Raees is making waves on international shores as well. The overseas box-office collection of the film over the first four days of its release reads an approximate Rs 45.56 crore (USD 6.7 million approx.) with some screens and territories yet to report their figures. The figures for Sunday have not yet been disclosed.
After a run of four days at the cinema halls, the region-wise collection was as follows:
Gulf region | USD 3 million |

The film collected Rs 93.24 crore in the first five days in the domestic market. Taking into account the overseas collections, the film’s worldwide tally stands at a whopping Rs 138.8 crore (US$ 20.5 million).
‘Raees’ has been widely appreciated across all strata, with audiences still rushing to catch the film. Shah Rukh and co-actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui‘s performances are being widely lauded – while SRK plays Raees Alam in the film, Nawazuddin essays the role of a tough-as-nails cop who is out to put an end to Raees’ criminal activities. The action-drama, which has been directed by Rahul Dholakia, is being commended for its depiction of a prohibition-era Gujarat.
The movie is all set to reach the 100-crore mark in the domestic market, and now with such promising numbers abroad, ‘Raees’ seems destined to bring in even higher collections.
Kaabil might catch up
While Raees got a head-start with Rs 20 crore on its first day, making another Rs 26 crore on the Republic Day holiday, it has been unable to hit such figures since. Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil, on the other hand, has roughly kept up its ‘Rs 10 crore per day’ pace. On the weekend, it saw a rise in revenue, where it saw its second highest earnings on Sunday. Raees’ earnings, surprisingly, dipped considerably on the weekend. Overall, Raees is still winning the race with Rs 93.24 crore in total, while Kaabil only has Rs 67.46 crore. Considering their daily box office revenues, however, the gap between the two movies is considerably narrowing.
