Colombo, July 20 (NewsWire) – The AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines to be administered as the second dose will arrive in Sri Lanka this week, the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) announced.
Regional Epidemiologist of the CMC Dr. Dinuka Guruge assured that the vaccines will be made available for everyone who received the AstraZeneca vaccine as the first dose.

She further said that people who had received their first dose of the vaccine at a CMC operated venue will be informed via SMS of the venue to receive the second jab.
People who had received the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine in other areas will be required to wait for instructions from their area Medical officer of Health (MOH), she added.
Sri Lanka received its first few batches of the AstraZeneca vaccine from India.
However, the manufacturing company later announced a suspension of delivery due to a local demand in India due to an outbreak of the coronavirus.
The Government has since been in discussion with various manufacturers of the vaccine in other countries to address the shortage of the vaccine.
