Colombo, Sept 5 (newsin.asia) – Four million doses of the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine procured by Sri Lanka reached the island early on Sunday (5) from China.
State Minister Professor Channa Jayasumana said this is the largest quantity of a vaccine that Sri Lanka has been able to procure in one consignment.
The SriLankan Airlines charter flight UL869 transporting the vaccines from Beijing arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport early this morning. The consignment, weighing 16,192kg and packed in 42 boxes with dry ice, landed at around 4.48 am.

Sri Lanka will begin administering Covid-19 vaccines to the 20-30 age group in the Western province and Galle district from next week, Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said.
