Colombo, May 10: The High Commission of India in Sri Lanka has denied that certain persons and their families have fled to India in the aftermath of the disturbances in the island nation.
The High Commission said in a press release that it has “recently noticed rumours circulating in sections of media and social media, that certain political persons and their families have fled to India. These are fake and blatantly false reports, devoid of any truth or substance. The High Commission strongly denies them.”
One of the rumors was that Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and some of his family members had fled to India.
