Colombo, May 11 (newsin.asia): The Government of India has announced that all existing visas granted to foreigners except to those belonging to diplomatic, official, UN/International Organizations, employment and project categories shall remain suspended till prohibition on international travel of passengers from/to India is lifted by the Government of India.
Foreign nationals stranded in India whose visa (regular visa, e-visa or stay stipulation) has expired or would be expiring in the period between 1 February 2020 and the date on which prohibition on international travel of passengers from India is lifted by the Government of India, can apply to the Foreigners Regional Registration Officers (FRRO) for extension of their visa on Gratis basis.
Extensions would be granted for a period of 30 days from the date of lifting of prohibition on international travel of passengers from India without an overstay penalty. Exit to Foreign Nationals, if so requested by them will also be granted on the same lines.
The Visa free travel facility granted to Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card holders shall continue to be kept in abeyance till prohibition on international travel of passengers from/to India is lifted by the Government of India. Any OCI card holder who intends to travel to India for compelling reason may contact the nearest Indian Mission. In case of persons holding OCI card who are already in India, the OCI card shall remain valid for their stay in India for any length of time.
