Colombo, Oct 25 (News 1st); While farmers are suffering due to the lack of fertilizer, the Sunday Times newspaper has reported that talks have been held to construct a formula one racing track in Hambantota.
According to the newspaper report, initial discussions have been held with Japanese and Spanish investors for the project.

The newspaper cited officials close to the Government as saying that the racing track measuring 5.6 kilometers in length will be built on state land.
They had noted that the local resources and expertise would be used to conduct the project.

The report says the plan is to unload the racing cars at the Hambantota port with the Hambantota air port catering to the visitors.
This project will be carried out as a Board of Investment Venture.
