New Delhi, April g7 (Live TV): Schools in Delhi are increasingly having their daily assembly under the sun to get vitamin D. According to research, 20 minutes of exposure to sunlight between 11 am and 1 pm can produce five times more Vitamin D in the skin as compared to morning hours.
A leading private school in Delhi held the Noon Assembly to increase Vitamin D absorption.
Delhi’s schools are coming together to spread the message of what it called the “Noon Assembly” where they spread awareness about Vitamin D, and its life long health benefits.
From the time immemorial, school assembly has always taken place in the morning,. but with a change in the lifestyle in metropolitan cities, incidence of Vitamin ‘D’ deficiency among children has seen a sharp increase.
In order to fight the deficiency, schools in Delhi have come forward to hold the morning assembly at 11 am. .
Since its launch on April 9, the ‘Noon Assembly’ initiative has been seeing increasing participation. More than 35 thousand students from more than 40 schools have received over 700 thousand sun minutes.
Schools from Varanasi in UP and Dhanbad in Jharkhand have also conducted the Noon Assembly.
