Colombo, May 5 (NIA) – Sri Lanka’s former cricket maestro and present Chairman of the National Cricket Committee, Aravinda De Silva, on Friday handed in his resignation to the Cricket Board.
De Silva cited personal reason as reasons for his resignation, which will come into effect from July 1.
The Sri Lanka Cricket Committee is yet to respond to De Silva’s resignation.
According to a report on cricbuzz, which cited sources, it said that the former cricket captain was unhappy with Sri Lanka Cricket taking major policy decisions without consulting the committee.
Cricbuzz further reported that De Silva’s visionary thinking and modernizing SLC’s coaching department had earned high praise from all corners.
Since his retirement from the game in 2003, De Silva has been heavily involved with SLC, mainly as chairman of selectors and chairman of the Cricket Committee.
