Colombo, May 11 (Daily Mirror): The Central Bank Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe said he will step down from the post if political instability in the country continues.
Dr. Weerasinghe said he does not wish to hold the post of CB Governor if there is no political stability established in the coming weeks.
Addressing the media today on the current status of the economy, the Governor said his view has been communicated to all political parties, including President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
The Governor went on to caution that things could become worse if there is no government in place.
One such major hindrance would be the daily power cuts increasing to 10 to 12 hour duration, which will lead to major disruption to businesses and the day-to-day activities of citizens.
