Colombo, January 11 (Xinhua): The Marina at the Colombo Port City was officially thrown open to the public on Monday after a colorful inauguration on Sunday, held in the presence of the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, the Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The distinguished guests watched a sailing boat race in the freshly built Marina which is the seafront of the Chinese-built Colombo Port City.
On Monday, thousands of people from various parts of Colombo visited the Marina to watch the deep blue sea and take in the clean air. In the evening, the crowds were larger with people of all age groups watching the sun go down in a blaze of crimson with a rainbow spanning the sky. People thronged the bridge over the Marina, a rare experience for the city’s walkers.
The smooth cemented path winding its way along the Marina made walking a pleasant experience for one and all.
A picture exhibition of the Marina and the Porty City showing how they rose from the sea, attracted a lot of attention.
