Colombo (News 1st) – The Epidemiology Unit states that 12,102 dengue cases were reported from all over the island from January 2021 until September 10.
Approximately 39.8 % of dengue cases were reported from the Western Province, with a total of 4,828 cases from the three Districts.
Meanwhile, the District which reports the highest number of cases is Batticaloa District, with 2,994 cases.
It is very important to seek medical attention in the event of fever and to do relevant laboratory investigations at least by day three of the illness, the Epidemiology Unit states.
The Epidemiology Unit also urges the public to be vigilant about mosquito breeding sites around their houses, which had increased during the lockdown period due to negligence.
