Colombo, August 19 (News 1st) – Sri Lanka introduced a new system to direct COVID-19 patients for treatment facilities and manage the process.
The National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) said the new process of directing COVID-19 patients to hospital and treating them at home, based on their conditions will commence from Thursday (19), in the Western Province.

The process will use SMS and Over the Phone services.
COVID-19 patients are required to SMS to 1904 the following based on their health condition.
(A) Classification of Patients :
01. Patients with breathing issues: A (SPACE)
02. Patients with Fever: B (SPACE)
03. Asymptomatic: C (SPACE)
(B) Age (SPACE)
(C) NIC (SPACE)
(D) Address (SPACE)
Details sent via SMS to the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) will be directly forwarded to the respective medical teams.
Thereafter, based on the condition of the patient, teams will contact patients via telephone number 247 and then direct them to the necessary treatment facility.
The required ambulances and other treatment equipment will be provided, said the NOCPCO.
Those placed under the Home Quarantine will be contacted by a dedicated medical team via 1390, it added.
