Colombo, July 13 (Daily Mirror) – The first step of re-opening schools will take place in August, Education Minister G.L. Peiris said.
Addressing the media after launching the COVID vaccination program for teachers in Colombo at the Army Hospital in Narahenpita, he said all 242,000 teachers, including private schools, will get the vaccine under the program.

With the current situation, it is essential to conduct online education. But online education is not the best alternative to continue with studies except teaching in a classroom. There are certain issues with conducting online teaching.
Therefore, it is much needed to re-open the schools as soon as possible as part of the program to open up the whole country.
Schools will be open step by step according to the health regulations.
Therefore, the ministry has launched the vaccination for 242,000 teachers in all schools, including private schools, within this week, the Minister added.
