Colombo, July 4 (newsin.asia) – Patients have been identified in the districts such as Colombo, Galle, Matara and Trincomalee the Deputy Director-General of Health Services Dr Hemantha Herath reported.
According to the Health Ministry, at least 13 new patients of highly infectious Delta variant have been detected in the country.

The threat is not over yet.” Dr. Chandima Jeewendra of Sri Jayewardenepura University said. “Delta variant, the most transmissible variant yet poses a major threat to unvaccinated or partially vaccinated. Adhering to mitigating measures until a significant percentage is fully vaccinated is important.”
The number of coronavirus positive patients detected in Sri Lanka crossed the 264,000 mark as another 1,262 new Covid-19 cases had been detected across the country yesterday (3).
The total number of COVID-19 positive cases stands at 264,057 with 29,506 active cases registered across the island and as many as 231,394 recoveries according to the Government Information Department.
Sri Lanka also registered 34 more Covid-19 related deaths yesterday. The Director-General of Health Services confirmed. The victims have succumbed to the virus infection.
Accordingly, the total number of deaths due to Covid-19 infection in Sri Lanka is 3,191 as of now.
