Colombo, June 2 (NewsWire) – The islandwide travel restriction that has been imposed in Sri Lanka due to the coronavirus pandemic has been further extended till 04 am on the 14th of June.
Army Commander General Shavendra Silva said the decision has been made on a request by health experts.

He said the health experts had called for a 21-day uninterrupted cycle to curtail the spread of the third wave of the virus in Sri Lanka.
The Army Commander said therefore, a decision was taken to extend the travel restriction from the 7th of June till the 14th of June.
General Shavendra Silva said with this extension the travel restriction will have been enforced for a period of 23-days by the 14th of June.
The islandwide travel restriction which was imposed from the 21st to the 28th of May, was later extended till the 7th of June.
