Colombo, January 9: The sombre Galle Face promenade in the Sri Lankan capital transforms itself into a beehive of activity in a riot of colour in the evenings as the sun goes down the Arabian Sea. Tang Lu of Xinhua captures the breathtaking scenes in Colombo’s most sought after public space.
Eateries, which are shut during the day, spring to life with their bright neon lights switched on to light up an array of Sri Lankan Muslim snacks, mostly deep-fried chicken and fish. Soft drinks are also sold to help wash down the spicy stuff.
Loud speakers blare popular film music from the stalls, though not loud enough to drown the noise from the mini-kitchens churning out eatables.
As middle aged gentlemen walk, families stroll, the young jog and dreamy couples stay immersed in a world of their own.
