Colombo, November 16 (newsin.asia) – The number of coronavirus patients detected in Sri Lanka crossed the 17,000 mark yesterday (15) as another 704 new cases had been detected within the day (15).
704 positive cases registered yesterday is the third-highest daily cases count in the island. The highest daily count in Sri Lanka of Covid-19 cases was on the 23rd of October with a record total of 866 positive cases in a day. The second-highest count was recorded on the 6th of October with 739 positive cases.
The total number of confirmed cases stands at 17,287 with 5,734 active cases across the island according to the Health Promotion Bureau. 11,495 cases have recovered so far.
According to the reports, all the new cases are close contacts of the Minuwangoda and Peliyagoda clusters.
Five more Covid-19 related deaths were reported in the country bringing the total count to 58 according to the Department of Government Information.
