Mumbai, June 15 (India Today) – The Cooper Hospital in Mumbai released an advance certificate on Monday after Sushant Singh Rajput’s postmortem and cited asphyxia due to hanging as the cause of his death in the report. The 34-year-old actor was found dead at his Mumbai residence on June 14 in an apparent suicide.
As per initial reports from the police, Sushant was suffering from depression for the past six months.
His viscera samples have been preserved for chemical analysis and will be sent to the forensic science laboratory.
Sushant’s family members arrived in Mumbai on Sunday night from Patna for his funeral today. The reason behind Sushant’s apparent suicide is not clear as no note was recovered from his residence. Police, however, recovered some items including his medical records for investigation.
Sushant’s death has left India in an utter state of shock as celebrities, politicians, as well as sportspersons, mourned his loss on social media.
Before making a career in films, Sushant Singh Rajput made his debut on television with Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil. It was, however, Pavitra Rishta, that catapulted Sushant to another level of stardom.
In 2013, Sushant made his debut in Bollywood with Kai Po Che! and subsequently starred in the films Shuddh Desi Romance, PK, Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!, M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, Kedarnath and Chhichhore.
He was last seen in 2019’s Drive, co-starring Jacqueline Fernandez. The film released on Netflix.
Dil Bechara with Sanjana Sanghi is the last film that Sushant Singh Rajput worked on. It was scheduled to release on May 8 but was postponed due to the coronavirus lockdown.
