Colombo, March 17 (newsin.asia) – Sri Lanka’s Health Ministry, on Tuesday said that COVID-19 patients had risen to 43 while over 200 were under observation in designated hospitals.
Due to the rising number of cases, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), said all passenger flights arriving at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) will be suspended from March 19, 4 pm till March 25, 23.29 pm.
The CAA in a statement said that during the restricted period, aircraft departures with passengers originating from Colombo, stopovers and transit passengers, emergency diversions to BIA, freighter operations and humanitarian flights to BIA, technical landings at BIA and inbound ferry flights (without passengers) at BIA will however be allowed.
Sri Lankan authorities have taken tough preventive measures over recent days as the number of COVID-19 patients rose to 43 on Tuesday which includes a 13 year old female.
Authorities have urged all those who have returned from Italy, Europe, South Korea and Iran, who have not gone into quarantine centers to isolate immediately for 14 days.
