Colombo, March 13 (newsin.asia) — Sri Lanka’s Health Ministry, on Friday announced that three more patients had tested positive for the COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases to 5.
In a statement, the Health Ministry said that all three were males, aged 41, 37 and 43. Two of them were admitted at Sri Lanka’s Infectious Disease Hospital, located in the capital while one was admitted at the Polonnaruwa Hospital, in north central Sri Lanka.
Out of the three, two citizens had arrived from Italy recently and were under quarantine, in the quarantine centers.
Two more positive cases were reported earlier this week in Sri Lanka with the Health Ministry stating that strict preventive measures were in place to prevent a spread.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, on Thursday evening urged people to remain calm and cooperate with the government to prevent the virus from spreading further and earlier Friday ordered for a two week ban on passengers arriving from 11 countries.
