Sri Lanka, Sept 30 (NIA) – Several districts across Sri Lanka is facing a severe drought causing a water shortage for public use. Polonnaruwa, in the North Central Province is one of the worst affected with women having to travel long distances by foot to get water for daily use. Sri Lanka’s Meteorology Department said the main reason for the prevailing dry weather condition is not receiving the rains expected from the South western monsoon weather pattern.
