Colombo, Feb 14 (newsin.asia) – At least seven bodies have been recovered after a building collapsed in Grandpass, in central Colombo on Wednesday, police said.
Those killed included three women.
Two others who have sustained critical injuries have been admitted to the Colombo National Hospital.
Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara said that the collapsed building was a warehouse used for storing tea leaves.
Deputy Minister Harsha De Silva said that ‘1990’ was responding to the building collapse and 4 ambulances had been allocated to the site.
“We are on standby. We will do everything to save lives,” he said.
Several fire brigade and rescue officials were continuing with the search and rescue mission.
