Colombo, May 19 (NIA) – Sri Lanka’s Softlogic Holdings group said it had acquired the franchise for Baskin-Robbins ice cream, which would help expand its retail and fast food restaurants business.
Softlogic Restaurants (Private) Ltd., a group subsidiary, had acquired the exclusive master franchise for Baskin-Robbins ice cream and its allied products in a deal with Blue Ginger (private) Ltd., a stock exchanging filing said.
The deal, the terms of which were not disclosed, gives Softlogic rights to import, distribute and retail Baskin-Robbins ice cream and its allied products in the island, the EconomyNext reported.
Softlogic also holds the franchise for the Burger King brand in Sri Lanka.
“Baskin-Robbins is the world’s largest chain of specialty ice cream shops,” the statement said. “Softlogic believes that the acquisition of the master franchise rights will create significant synergies within our retail and QSR (quick service restaurants) sector.”
