Sri Lankan PM looks forward to stronger ties following Xi’s re-election

Si Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe meets Chinese President Xi Jinping at OBOR summit

Colombo, Oct 27 (newsin.asia) – Sri Lankan Prime Minister, Ranil Wickremesinghe, on Friday congratulated China’s President Xi Jinping on his re-election as the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and Chairman of the Military Commission at the recently held 19th National Congress.

In a letter sent to Xi, Wickremesinghe said that the longstanding friendship between Sri Lanka and China built upon mutual respect, solidarity trust and understanding had led, over the decades, to both countries reaching new and historic milestones in its time tested bilateral partnership.
“It is my fervent belief that the close affinity and collaboration will continue to further flourish and expand for the benefit of the peoples of our two countries during your second term in office,” he added.
Wickremesinghe further wished Xi with a good health, happiness and personal well being for the continued progress and prosperity of the People’s Republic of China.
