COLOMBO, Sept 21 (NIA) – Sri Lanka successfully concluded a joint military exercise conducted by the Sri Lanka Armed Forces with the participation of eight countries, the navy media unit said here on Wednesday.
The annual joint military exercise of the Sri Lanka armed forces ‘Cormorant Strike’, organized by the Sri Lanka Army, successfully came to an end in Kokkilai beach area in Trincomalee , in Eastern Sri Lanka on Tuesday.
The mock military exercise which was held for the seventh consecutive year, was attended by 58 military personnel drawn from Bangladesh, China, India, Japan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and United Kingdom apart from 2,500 Army, 638 Navy and 506 Air Force combatants attached to the special units of Sri Lankan tri-services.
The final day of the mission comprised of wide range of military exercises including patrols, jungle exercises, cordon and search tactics, raids, ambush attacks, sniper firing and rescue and relief missions.
Several senior officers from foreign military forces and a host of senior officers from the Army and Air Force were present to witness the final exercise.
