Colombo, Nov. 14 – Sri Lankan has opened a wax museum in the North Central Province of Polonnaruwa, a statement from the president’s office said here Thursday.
The museum, similar to the world famous Madam Tussaud, was declared open in association with the Polonnaruwa Museum of Ancient Technology.
With wax figures of all Sri Lankan leaders since independence, this is Sri Lanka’s first such museum built with the objective of enlightening the present generation on the ancient technical know-how and preserve the artifacts for future generation, the statement said.
A wax figure of President Maithripala Sirisena is also present at the museum.
The president also donated gifts and souvenirs received from various world leaders, which are also available at the museum, the statement added.
