July 23 (NIA) – Sri Lanka, on Saturday condemned the deadly shooting in the German city of Munich on Friday which left atleast 9 people dead and 16 others injured.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Mahishini Colonne said that Sri Lanka extended its condolences to the families of the victims and wished a quick recovery to those injured.
An 18-year-old German-Iranian who had lived in Munich for at least two years is alleged to be responsible for the attack after he opened fire in a busy shopping mall in Munich on Friday evening, and later shooting himself.
The attack is the third against civilians in Western Europe in eight days.
Media reports said that the attacker was not known to police and his motives are unclear. No group has claimed responsibility.
Many children were among the casualties.
