Colombo, March 30 – Sri Lanka’s cabinet is expected to approve a proposal to lease out two blocks of land at the Katunayake International Airport to build two star-class hotels.
At the cabinet meeting held 10th May 2016, it was decided to call for proposals to select suitable investors for the construction and maintaining of two luxury hotels with a minimum of 100 rooms each on land belonging to the Airport and Aviation Services Company.
The proposals evaluated by the cabinet appointed procurement committee has recommended Malaysia’s ECM Libra Financial Group Berhad and Singapore’s TP Real Estate Holdings Private limited be awarded the two leases.
Transport Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva said the decision has been taken after considering the rapidly increasing passenger requirements and highlighted that the lease will be for a period of 40 years which includes construction.
