Karachi, January 21 (Dawn): The 63rd Jio Filmfare Awards held in Mumbai, saw glamour and glory galore, but we only had one thing on our minds: Hindi Medium‘s wins.
The film bagged five nominations in the following categories, Best Film, Saba Qamar for Best Actor (Female), Irrfan Khan for Best Actor (Male), Best Director, and Best Supporting Actor (Male).
Of those, the film managed to rack up two wins: Best Film and Best Actor (Male).
Irrfan Khan went home with an award – beating Akshay Kumar (Toilet: Ek Prem Katha) and Shah Rukh Khan (Raees). However, Saba Qamar lost out to Vidya Balan in the Best Actor (Female) category for her performance in Tumhari Sulu, making it her sixth Filmfare win to date.
Here’s to Saba Qamar for being recognized in Bollywood for her acting chops!
