Colombo, Nov 30 (NewsWire) – The Public Health Inspectors Association (PHIA) has called on the authorities to impose travel restrictions during the upcoming festive season.
President of the Association Upul Rohana said travel restrictions are necessary due to the behaviour of the public over the last few weeks.

Rohana warned that Sri Lanka will face the impact of the situation in January if travel restrictions are not imposed for the festive season.
Last week, the Deputy Director of Health Services Dr. Hemantha Herath revealed that authorities are doing their best to avoid restrictions or another lockdown during the December festive season.

Stating that a lockdown can be imposed at any time, he said, however, it all depends on the behaviour of the public.
He pointed out that the public has been observed to be behaving in an irresponsible manner, adding that this has resulted in a rise in Covid infections in several parts of the country.
