Colombo, May 9 (NewsWire) – President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has condemned the acts of violence that had occurred in Colombo today.
Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) supporters attacked anti-government protesters in front of the Temple Trees and at the Galla Face Green in Colombo today.
Commenting on the incident, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa said he strongly condemns the violent acts taking place by those inciting and participating, irrespective of political allegiances.
In a Twitter message, he further said that violence will not solve the current problems.
“I request all citizens to remain calm and exercise restraint. I urge everyone to work together in solving this crisis,” he concluded.
