Colombo, December 31 (newsin.asia): The Chief Minister of Sri Lanka’ Tamil-majority Northern Province, C.V.Wigneswaran, has called upon Sri Lankans irrespective of their caste, creed or ethnicity, to promote the country’s unity while recognizing its diversity.
In a conciliatory message on New Year eve, the Chief Minister who is generally known for his radical posturing on the ethnic issue, said: “ Let me which each and every one of our people, devoid of caste, creed, language and religious distinctions, a happy and prosperous New Year!”
“ May the people of this country, while they maintain their individualities, march forth together as Sri Lankans towards happiness and prosperity during this New Year. “
“May this country receive this year, a new constitution, recognizing the individual status of each community in consonance with their history , lands, culture, language or religion, while at the sometime projecting their togetherness as citizens of this ancient country!”
