Male, March 26 (newsin.asia) – Maldives President Abdulla Yameen, on Monday offered his condolences to Russia’s President Vladimir Putin following a fire in a shopping mall in Kemerovo which killed 64 people and several wounded.
In a letter sent to Putin, Yameen said he was deeply saddened to hear the news of the tragic fire, causing the loss of innocent lives, injury to many and major damage to property and infrastructure.
“At this time of national grief, the Government and the people of the Maldives join me in conveying our profound sympathies to Your Excellency, the Government and the people of Russia. I wish for swift and successful recovery efforts,” Yameen said.
He further offered his condolences to the members of the bereaved families.
A total of 64 people perished in the fire that ravaged through a busy shopping mall in an industrial city in Siberia on Sunday.
Many of the victims were children, and at least 16 people were still missing, Russian media reported.
