Colombo, May 19 (newsin.asia): Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena reiterated on Saturday that the Sri Lankan armed forces had not committed war crimes as alleged by sections of the media and extremist organizations.
Addressing the annual War Heroes’ Day here, Sirisena also called upon Sri Lankans to fight extremism in the South as well as the North of the country.
“The war heroes have been commemorated for nine consecutive years. It is sad to see a majority failing to identify the difference between a war hero and a terrorist” President Sirisena said.
Speaking further, the President said there are groups which sow extremism in the South as well as in the North and it is the duty of all citizens to understand the fact and work in a responsible manner.
