Colombo, Feb 1 (newsin.asia) – Japan and Qatar are set to create history at the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 final which will be hosted at the Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
The Samurai Blue are eying their record-extending fifth title, they hold a 100% record in the finals having won all four of their finals in the past. The Japanese have gone on to claim the trophy in 1992, 2000, 2004 and 2011 to become the AFC Asian Cup’s most successful nation.
Qatar is unbeaten in the tournament so far, having scored 16 times and conceding none (6 clean sheets), they are looking forward to lifting their first Asian Cup. The Maroons head coach has described their AFC Asian Cup 2019 final against Japan which is to take place on Friday as the “most important game in Qatar’s football history.”
The leading goal scorer from Qatar Almoez Ali has scored 8 times this tournament, currently sharing the record with Iran’s legendary striker Ali Daei who achieved the feat in the 1996 edition of the tournament. The 22-year-old has to score 1 more goal to claim the record in his name.

The champions will receive a cheque of USD$5 million, from the prize fund totaling USD$14.8 million introduced for the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019. The runners-up will receive USD$3 million, the losing semi-finalists USD$1 million and all 24 teams USD$200,000 as the curtains come down on the biggest-ever AFC Asian Cup.
