New Delhi, Jan 7 (newsin.asia) – On Friday, India reported 117,100 new COVID-19 cases, the highest number since early June, as the Omicron variation overtakes the Delta variant in urban areas.
The health ministry also reported 302 new deaths, taking the total to 483,178. Total infections stand at 35.23 million.

The last time India crossed the 100,000 mark in daily cases was on June 6, 2021.
The top five states registering the maximum cases are Maharashtra with 36,265 cases, followed by West Bengal with 15,421 cases, Delhi with 15,097 cases, Tamil Nadu with 6,983 cases and Karnataka with 5,031 cases.
