Dhaka, November 9 (newsin.asia): Famous singer Runa Laila was among 85 Bangladeshis who got the “Kor Bahadur” award for being honest tax payers from the Bangladesh Finance Minister AMA. Muhith on Wednesday.
Vivacious and golden voiced Runa Laila dominated TV channels in Bangladesh and India with her multi-lingual songs in the 1970s and 80s.
The award ceremony was was held at the National Board of Revenue (NBR) Bhaban at Dhaka’s Agargaon on Wednesday.
NBR honored the families who paid highest amount of taxes at district and national levels in fiscal 2016-17. In his last budget speech Finance Minister Muhith had said that an award will be instituted to honor honest and regular tax payers. “Kor Bahadur” translates as “Tax Hero”
Sixteen families from Dhaka and eight families from Chittagong received the honour.
No one from Rangamati or Khagrhachharhi districts received the honour. The family of Mahbubur Rahman was awarded the honour from Bandarban in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
