New Delhi, January 17 (India Today): China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) is helping the Pakistan Army to fortify its bunkers along the Rajasthan border, according to a latest intelligence report accessed by India Today.
Reports say that four to five Chinese military personnel have been reported at the Pakistani post in Jannatgul opposite Bikaner.
Inputs suggest that these personnel may have been involved in testing of surveillance equipment.
Alarmed at the latest development, Indian intelligence agencies have alerted the Border Security Force (BSF) and have asked the paramilitary force to collect more information regarding suspicious activities across the western border.
According to sources, the Pakistan Army recently completed construction of two underground bunkers near the international border in Bahawalpur.
The bunkers measuring 12 x 10 x 08 feet are said to have been constructed under the supervision of Chinese engineers.
The friendship between Pakistan and China has also resulted in strong military ties between the two countries.
Experts say the move does not come as a major surprise as Pakistan’s focus remains Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab. But with increased surveillance and tighter security, Pakistan is looking at opening other fronts along the western border.
A senior officer in security establishment said: “Pakistan with its continuous attempts to keep Kashmir Valley on the boil is now opening a new front on India’s western border.”
Pakistan is already building new bunkers and airbases near the international border adjoining Rajasthan.
