Colombo, June 6 (NIA) – Sri Lanka and China, on Tuesday, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to construct a hospital for kidney patients in Polonnaruwa, in North Central Sri Lanka, the Government Information Department said here.
The hospital to be built is under a donation of the Chinese government at the request of President Maithripala Sirisena.
Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Janaka Sri Chandraguptha signed the MoU on behalf of the Sri Lankan government while the Economic and Commerce Advisor of the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka, Yang Zuoyuan signed on behalf of the Chinese government.
The Government Information Department said the kidney hospital will consist of 200 beds, 100 blood infiltration machines and modern surgery complex.
