Colombo, Nov 15 (newsin.asia) – China’s Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Yi Xianliang, has appreciated Sri Lanka for its balanced foreign policy with other countries and the fact that it opened its port to all countries.
Speaking at a reception hosted on the Chinese Navy Ship Qi Jiguang which is currently docked at the Colombo Harbour, Xianliang said that this year, many naval ships from various countries had visited Sri Lanka including those from USA, Indian, Japan, Indonesia, Pakistan and others.
Yi strongly appreciated the balanced policy maintained by the Sri Lankan government and the fact that it opened its port to everyone.
“As ambassador of China to Sri Lanka, he fully supports such balance policy of foreign affairs. Sri Lanka‘s good relations with everyone is not only important for Sri Lanka, but also for China and other countries,” a statement by the Chinese Embassy in Colombo said.
The Ambassador further said that if one country dominates the Indian Ocean, it might be a disaster for the whole region and for human beings.
Speaking further, Yi said this was the fourth visiting Chinese Navy ship this year and emphasized that the the exchange between China and Sri Lanka especially between its two navies, had become more and more frequent.
“They come here for peace, for cooperation and for friendship,” Yi stressed.
