Colombo, May 14 (newsin.asia) – A 26 year old British rugby player, who was touring Sri Lanka with his team, died after suffering severe breathing problems on Monday, the police said.
A police spokesperson told newsin.asia, the rugby player had been rushed to hospital by employees of the hotel where he had been staying, in capital Colombo. Another British rugby player aged 24, who had also developed breathing problems is being treated in hospital.
The police said the team had arrived in Sri Lanka from Britain on May 10 and on Saturday had played a friendly rugby match and had thereafter had dinner at a restaurant.
The deceased player and his friend had returned to the hotel in the early hours of Sunday and had experienced difficulty breathing by Sunday morning. He and his friend were rushed to hospital soon after.
Police said a post mortem would be carried out on the deceased later Monday.
An investigation has been launched into the incident.
