Colombo, August 9 (newsin.asia) – The number of coronavirus positive patients detected in Sri Lanka crossed the 329,000 mark as another 2,956 new Covid-19 cases had been detected across the country yesterday (8).
The total number of COVID-19 positive cases stands at 329,994 with 31,620 active cases registered across the island and as many as 293,357 recoveries according to the Government Information Department.

Sri Lanka also registered 94 more Covid-19 related deaths yesterday, the Director-General of Health Services confirmed. The victims have succumbed to the virus infection on Saturday (7).
Reportedly, among the victims are 1 male aged below 30 years, 22 victims aged between 30-59 years and 71 others aged 60 and above.
The total number of deaths due to Covid-19 infection in Sri Lanka is 5,111 as of now.
Around 30 percent of the reported COVID 19 patients within Colombo City have been infected with the Delta variant, Chief Medical Officer Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) Dr. Ruwan Wijayamuni said. Read more
