Colombo, Feb 7 (NIA) – Sri Lanka and Maldives will hold a two day Joint Commission session in Maldives this week to discuss several matters including tourism, economic cooperation and fisheries, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement here Tuesday.
Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister, Mangala Samaraweera will lead the Sri Lanka delegation to the Joint Commission while his Maldivian counterpart, Dr. Mohamed Asim, will lead the Maldivian delegation.
Minister Samaraweera will meet the Maldivian President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom during the visit, the statement said.
The Joint Commission is expected to discuss matters related to economic cooperation, tourism, fisheries, education, health, youth and sports skills development, employment and cultural affairs.
The previous Joint Commission was held in Colombo in 2014.
